“Aroma” in aromatherapy refers to smell, and “therapy” refers to healing properties of the essential oils. The term “aromatherapy” is somewhat misleading. Scent is not the only aspect of aromatherapy. Aroma and olfaction are important parts of this therapy and useful for the psychological conditions. Essential oils are extracted from plants, which makes this a botanical branch of medicine. These oils are extracted from flowers, roots, leaves, seeds, woods and bark of the plant. Each part of the plant provides a specific essential oil with its own specific properties. The aromatic compounds contained in essential oils have many potent medicinal benefits, including antimicrobial, antiviral, and antispasmodic. Aromatherapy is holistic and enjoyable. Aromatherapy affects mind, body, and psyche all the same time. It enhances physical, emotional well being, increasing beauty and uplifting the spirit.
Methods of use
Aromatherapy preparations can be used in a few ways—a blend to be used for inhalation when needed; a blend to be applied to the skin as a massage oil; a blend to be applied to the pulse points of the body; a blend to be diffused in a room. Your Aromatherapist can help you find the best method for you.
Aromatherapy Consultation
An Aromatherapy consultation usually takes anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour. Your Aromatherapist will discuss with you your specific needs. You will test and smell various oils to see how you react to them, and if they appeal to you. With the help of your Aromatherapist, you will discover the best way to apply or use your Aromatherapy preparation.
Aromatherapy Massage
An Aromatherapy treatment can be added to any massage for an additional charge of $10, in the form of a massage oil. Talk to your Aromatherapist to find out what is best for you.
